John Goodman and the staff at Goodman private wealth advisers have a long history of supporting the community. We strongly believe that we have a responsibility to put something positive back into the communities in which we live and work.

Our contribution takes the form of our people's time, knowledge and experience.

Over the years we have:

  •   Raised funds for a talking machine for a disabled child
  •   Raised funds for a new school bus for a special school
  •   Supported various community organisations by taking active roles on committees
  •   Been involved with our churches
  •   Assisted in the fund raising efforts for Connect East Timor

Connect East Timor

Since early 2005, John Goodman and the Goodman team have been assisting the Connect East Timor (CET) campaign in their fundraising endeavours.

Remember East Timor? The world community has moved on but the almost total destruction that occurred five years ago continues to deprive the people of East Timor (now Timor-Leste) of the most basic of services.

With damage estimated at almost $US 4.2 billion, the rebuilding process is slow and without continuing support from the international community, the Timor-Leste economy will struggle for years to come with potentially serious political and social consequences. This is a daunting prospect for a nation that achieved its hard-won independence in May 2002.

Connect East Timor’s campaign objective is to raise funds and gifts in kind to establish a sustainable Community telecommunications system linking all villages and towns within each district. The system is a simple two radio network similar to that used by Australian outback families for school of the air. It costs only $3,000 to connect a village but there are 500 villages to connect.

John and his wife Meta hosted a luncheon early this year. The primary objective was to raise $50,000. It was very pleasing for John and Meta to achieve this goal. Since then, John has been working with the campaign team to develop ways in which to raise CET’s profile and gain pledges both monetary and 'in kind'.

This is just one of the social justice / community projects that John and Goodman private wealth advisers have supported over the years.
