GOODMAN RECOGNISED FOR THEIR INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO SUCCESSION PLANNING

Goodman private wealth advisers has again been recognised in the Asset Magazine / Financial Review Awards for 2007. The firm was national runner up in the category for succession planning. In her article about the firm, journalist Leung Yeow describes Brad Church and James Goodman as “men on a mission”.

She says “clients expect that the financial planning firm they engage will be sustainable enough to provide services to them throughout their life.  They want to feel some certainty that when their planner retires or leaves the industry, another adviser who they know, trust and respect will be there for them”.

Issues that Goodman were able to demonstrate to the judges included:-

  • Having a written plan covering all aspects of the succession from John Goodman to James and Brad
  • Actually measuring outcomes against pre-determined goals eg
    • rate of client transition to new advisers
    • maintaining client satisfaction through the process (it actually improved)

Yeow notes that “compared with similar organisations, Goodman has modest growth plans.  It aims to increase client numbers slowly and only take on new clients if they fit the firm’s description of an ideal client.  Wealthy families fit that profile”.
