Ground breaking research
The findings of a ground breaking research study conducted by the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies (CPNS) at Queensland University of Technology were released recently. The study was funded by a grant from Goodman private wealth advisers.
The study comprised personal in-depth interviews with a number of families, mostly from South East Queensland, with significant investment assets.
Dr Kym Madden of the CPNS who headed the project said the study was long overdue and filled a gap in what was known about the advice wanted by wealthy Australian's managing their wealth.
Goodman sponsored the study for two reasons. First we wanted to find out more about the advice needs of wealthy families who increasingly represent our clients. Secondly, the study also filled a gap in Australian research on philanthropy from the view point of the affluent donor.
We're using the findings of the study to compliment our already substantial experience in advising successful families. Several additional services to those we already provide will be introduced in the near future.
We are already working in the area of philanthropy. For clients, we provide information and advice to support their family giving programmes. In the wider community we seek to increase awareness of giving options to donors by delivering talks to community organisations and write articles for professional publications on effective ways to organise their giving.
To find out more about our philanthropy services please contact us. If you or a colleague have an involvement with a nonprofit organisation, consider having one of our directors address your members on giving from the donor's perspective.
