We are delighted to share highlights from the recent 2026 Queensland Gives Awards, an annual celebration recognising Queenslanders whose generosity and leadership continue to make a meaningful difference in our community.
As part of our long-standing commitment to supporting philanthropy in Queensland, Goodmans was once again honoured to sponsor the Queensland Environmental Philanthropist of the Year award. Now in its fifth year, this award recognises an individual, family, or foundation whose dedication to environmental causes is helping to protect and preserve Queensland’s natural environment for future generations.
This year’s Environmental Philanthropist of the Year was awarded posthumously to The Honourable Rod Welford - a deeply respected leader, advocate, and former Queensland Minister for Environment and Heritage.
Rod’s contribution to environmental protection in Queensland is significant and enduring. From landmark reforms in biodiversity protection and land clearing to the expansion of national parks, his leadership helped shape modern environmental policy in the state. Beyond public office, Rod continued to advocate for sustainability and education.
We also acknowledge finalists Dr Robin Stock and Dan Papecek, whose remarkable generosity has created a lasting legacy for conservation.
At Goodmans, philanthropy is central to who we are. Supporting initiatives like the Queensland Philanthropy Awards reflects our belief that purposeful giving can deliver impact far beyond the initial contribution.
We congratulate all nominees, finalists, and award recipients, and thank Queensland Gives for their continued leadership in fostering a culture of giving across the state.
